The Path of Totality at 46U!

August 21st 2017, a day to remember at Alpine Airpark. Residents, their families and friends were fortunate to witness one of nature’s most awe-inspiring sights – a total solar eclipse. It truly was a spectacular experience, where we felt the impact of the sun being shut off from the earth – the birds seemed confused, the air cooled so quickly, the earth became eerily quiet, the sky darkened to a pewter color and then totality.

For one lucky family, their first weekend as new residents at 46U was the Eclipse weekend. That surely was one great way to guarantee a place to stay! Their comment; “how do you ever forget your first weekend in your new home at Alpine Airpark!”

Aircraft from all over the nation flew into 46U either returning home or flying in for the first time. From a CJ10 to a Quest Venture, there was no shortage of aircraft to enjoy watching taxi to their hangars. At the Refuge the Eclipse coincided with 60th birthdays for two of our residents who win the prize for the most friends, as aircraft descended on their property with tents and a mini Oshkosh camp site that was enjoyed by everyone. The Airpark is proud to have such a great community of people who share in the love of aviation and this unique location. For those of you who have yet to come visit, September is one of the favorite months with the changing colors of the bush maple and the aspens, the fly fishing and visits to Teton National Park and Yellowstone as the summer crowds diminish.
