Fall turns to Winter

Once again the fall colors were spectacular. Surrounding the Airpark, the mountain maple and aspens made the already stunning, downwind for Runway 13, even more so. Now a colorful memory as winter starts to dominate the landscape with the first snow welcomed at the Airpark in November.

This weekend looks like snow might return which would be a welcome treat to enjoy. There is a contingency of residents who want nothing to do with snow and they make fast tracks south. But most await the season with great anticipation for skiing up at Jackson Hole, Grand Targhee and surrounding the runway, the Alpine Cross Country ski trails and snowmobiling.

What could be better than flying into your home at 46U in the morning and by afternoon be up on the gondola, at the number 1 rated Jackson Hole Ski Resort. www.jacksonhole.com.

What many may not know, is that Alpine Wyoming is considered one of the top snowmobiling areas in the nation.  American Snowmobiler Magazine compares the area surrounding Alpine to the best of Alaska or British Columbia. “It is that good; providing the whole spectrum from trail touring on the expansive trail system that spans the area with more than 150 miles of groomed trails, to extreme mountain riding.”

A popular day ride for the Alpine Airpark residents is to ride the Greys River 30 miles up to the Box Y Lodge, (www.boxylodge.com/winter-activities) for lunch.  For those of you who are dreaming the 46U dream, Box Y has great cabins for rent.  Snowmobiles are also available for rental in Alpine.
